SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP: More and more schools are banning traditional playground games, including touch football and soccer, saying they’re too “dangerous.” Tag is banned at Freedom Elementary School in Cheyenne, Wyo., because it “progresses easily into slapping and hitting and pushing instead of just touching,” said Principal Cindy Farwell. “You’re taking away the physical development of the children,” complains Prof. Joe Frost of the University of Texas-Austin, a specialist in childhood education. “Having time for play is essential for children to keep their weight under control.” (USA Today)

Traditional schoolyard games are being banned by schools
Legal Clips, July 2006 A number of traditional schoolyard games played during recess are being banned by schools because they are viewed as dangerous. Recently, elementary schools in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Spokane, Washington banned tag at recess, while a Charleston, South Carolina area school prohibits contact sports, such as soccer and touch football. Although the bans are adopted in the name of safety, many child health experts contend they limit exercise and free play, which contribute to a child’s development. Although most education associations, such as the National School Boards Association, do not compile statistics on school games, Donna Thompson of the National Program for Playground Safety verifies the trend toward schools prohibiting games during recess involving physical contact. According to Ms. Thompson the number of schools banning the games is increasing because school administrators are worried about “kids running into one another” and sustaining injuries. Charleston County, South Carolina schools spokeswoman Mary Girault says her school district banned contact sports because students suffered broken arms and dislocated fingers playing touch football and soccer. However, Rhonda Clements, an education professor at Manhattanville College, says such games help children learn to be flexible and problem-solve. Joe Frost, emeritus professor of early childhood education at the University of Texas-Austin, likewise believes restrictions on playground games are harmful. “You’re taking away the physical development of the children,” he says. “Having time for play is essential for children to keep their weight under control.”

Fighting Forms

I am a star among stars. I am the center of the universe. I order all things about me and set them in their motions as relevant to me. My words are truth, and in as much as my truth -- the gravity of my being in which I set myself as the center of the universe -- syncs up with any objective truth -- the gravity of the universe -- so then will my ordering last unto the end of time.

With the new direction of expelling all of those who dare to question or critique in the OTO, one has to ask, am I good enough? Is my critique insightful enough? Does it make people uncomfortable? Does it threaten the status quo by causing them to confront how they are failing to meet the requirements to create a Thelemic society such as Crowley envisioned? Have they made a list like some demented Santa Claus, the first target appears to have been a Bishop, are they working down the ranks purging any and all dissent (or perhaps merely the effective dissent, I don't really follow TAG much, so I cannot critique the effectiveness of his critique). Soon there will be nothing left but cringing lackeys and inarticulate illogical critiques of the barely understood.

Somehow, I feel that, due to my own lack of discipline, I am fairly low on the list -- and to all of my brothers & peers, I apologize for that failing.
